What To Expect
Welcome to Unlocking Hope!
Starting counselling can feel vulnerable.
You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.
Whether you are navigating caregiving stress, disability, grief, anxiety, identity, or life changes, counselling offers a space to slow down, feel supported, and focus on what matters most to you.
Before Your First Session
Before we meet, you will receive a short intake form by email. This helps us understand a little about what brings you to counselling and what support you are looking for.
If forms feel overwhelming, that’s okay - we can review them together during your first appointment.
Our Space
Sessions are offered in a welcoming office space through Sunalta Counselling Collective in Sunalta, Calgary.
There is free two-hour street parking nearby, and the office is accessible by elevator or stairs.
When you arrive, scroll through the buzzer directory to find Emily Jackson and I will buzz you in.
Our office is wheelchair accessible. Please note that while the building is accessible, the bathrooms do not currently have an accessible stall.
Your First Session
The first session is about getting to know you.
We will explore what is bringing you to counselling, what feels important in your life right now, and what you hope for moving forward. There is no pressure to share everything at once, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You are the expert on your own life. Counselling is collaborative, and together we will decide what feels most important to focus on.
Each session lasts 60 minutes unless otherwise arranged. At the end of your session, payment can be made via cash, cheque, or e-transfer.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on this path.
